Have you noticed the merry and bright lights along Tahoe Boulevard? They help mark a month-long celebration of the holidays in Incline Village and Crystal Bay. Many businesses and residents throughout Incline Village including the shopping centers are lighting up their buildings as well.

The festivities have already begun and will continue throughout December. Join the fun by entering the Deck the Halls Lighting Contest. Events including the annual Rookie’s Toys for Tots party, Sip and Shop Saturdays (and a Thursday), IVGID’s Santa Stop, IVCBA’s Artist Reception and Holiday Boutique, the Incline Visitor Bureau’s Santa Pub Crawl and Sierra Nevada University’s “Cocoa, Cookies and Carols” will bring the community together for fellowship and fun.

The thrift stores in Village Center are ready for holiday shoppers with décor, ugly Holiday sweaters and toys to be wrapped for family or donated to Toys for Tots. Village Toys across from Starbucks in the Village Plaza is stocked with great gifts. Sip and Shop events are being held at Village Center, Village Plaza and Country Club Centre from now until Christmas. Our local merchants are ready to help you find the perfect gift, locally.

Deck the Halls, a lighting contest is being rolled out this year to encourage every “Who in Whoville” to help light up their neighborhood, every “Mom and Pop” shop to decorate their storefronts, and every major business to enter the contest and compete for prizes. The Griswold prize will be awarded for the best lit commercial building and for the best lit residence. Small businesses compete for the Most Creative. You must enter to be judged by December 15.

Take a Drive…through our main corridor and see the lighting that starts at Village Ski Loft, continues with High Sierra Gardens, the Christmas Tree Village to the intersection with the Chevron Station.  Don’t miss the beautiful décor at the Visitor Bureau, at Lake Tahoe School and the decorated trees on the lawn at Cornerstone Church. Not to be missed is the grounds at the Hyatt and the display at Lakeshore Realty on Lakeshore Boulevard. Right around the corner from the Chevron station, is the Menath building owned by Hamilton Realty. You can also take a virtual tour as we continue to update our Deck the Halls photo gallery. We will publish a full list of participants when the contest entry period closes (December 15).

We Need Your Help!

Become a lighting sponsor and join the many local businesses and individuals who have already donated to fund the holiday lighting of Incline Village. The lighting program was spearheaded by IVCBA with many community sponsors and a grant from the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitor Bureau. We are especially grateful to the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation for their generous support.
