IVCBA, Best Ball for a Cause - an annual Rotary fundraiser:

The “Best Ball for a Cause” Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept 25 promises to be great fun for golfers and non-golfers alike. Play in the 9 hole tournament or just come for a BBQ lunch, a silent auction, the always popular “Wine Wheelbarrow “ raffle and “Putt for Wine” games.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tahoe-Incline, the tournament will be held for the fourth year at IVGID’s Mountain Course, 630 Wilson Way with a shotgun start at 9am.

The title sponsor, for the second year in a row, is Transcend Wealth Partners. Other major sponsors include Charles Schwab, Incline Village Realtors, Mike Menath Insurance, Jeff Sheldon, Patent Attorney, Smith Design Group and Jim and Fi O’Brien.

Non-golfers can arrive any time, with lunch being served from 11-1. This year’s auction, organized by Jean Thoms and other Rotarians, will be the best ever. “The community has been extremely generous,” commented Thoms. “We have unbelievable items, such as wine baskets, a cruise on Lake Tahoe, a vacation in southern California, and fly fishing out of Truckee”. Rotarians also donate items and help organize the auction.

The Rotary Club of Tahoe-Incline has been dedicated to youth and education since its inception in 1997. Rotary International has numerous programs, including leadership camps, speech and music contests and the Interact volunteer club at Incline High School. They will be helping with the tournament on Saturday. Pre-COVID, the Rotary Youth Exchange sent a student from Incline to another country and hosted a foreign student as well.

Approximately $30,000 is donated to local Rotary causes every year. Funds raised from the Best Ball for a Cause tournament will go directly into grants, programs and scholarships. Funds have been earmarked for Boys and Girls Club and various programs at the schools.

This year’s major grant, matched with funds from Rotary District 5190, will support the new Makers Space program at Incline Elementary School. Rotary partners with Incline Education Fund, a local nonprofit that not only helps raise the funds, but helps implement projects as well. Past projects have included laptops for teachers and students,

Locals are encouraged to come out for a day of fun for a great cause! For more information, go to www.bestballforacause.com.
